‘No better day than Saturday’, ‘Legend’ – Loads of Portsmouth fans react as attacker sends message to fans

Plenty of Portsmouth fans have sent messages to striker John Marquis after the summer-signing added another goal to his season tally on Tuesday night as Kenny Jackett’s men saw off Lincoln City 2-0.

After a slow start Pompey took the lead right on the stroke of half-time when Ronan Curtis belted home a delicious free-kick in injury time – what turned out to be the final kick of the half.

Tom Hopper and Conor Coventry both had opportunities to level in the second half, but neither could convert their respective opportunities.

And with three minutes remaining, Kenny Jackett’s men made the points safe. January signing Steve Seddon was fouled in the box, with Marquis stepping up to make no mistake.

The former Doncaster man has not had the easiest of seasons so far but has now found the net eight times in all competitions.
