Birmingham City extended their Championship unbeaten run to five matches following an impressive 3-1 win over promotion-chasing Bristol City on Friday night.

The Robins entered the match in an excellent run of form having won four consecutive league matches, but Pep Clotet's side produced a well-organised display as they sealed a 3-1 victory to take them up to the 40-point mark.

The Blues had fallen behind in the first minute as Marc Roberts' mistake allowed Jamie Paterson to net the opener, but goals from Scott Hogan and Lukas Jutkiewicz either side of Andreas Weimann's own goal sealed the win.

Roberts' weak back-pass presented the ball to Paterson who rounded Lee Camp before slotting home, but it was ultimately the Blues who had the last laugh as Roberts then formed part of a solid defensive display during the rest of the game.

Roberts has now taken to Twitter to apologise for the error, while praising the team performance:

Plenty of Birmingham fans responded to the tweet by forgiving Roberts for his early lapse in concentration, while many went on to emphasise that he delivered an overall strong performance to make up for the error.
