‘No amount of excuses can allow that’ – Derby fans disappointed as key man defends poor result

Derby County blew their chance of returning to the automatic promotion spots last night, after falling to a 2-0 defeat at struggling Sheffield Wednesday.
The Rams had looked to bounce back from a disappointing home draw with Norwich City on Saturday, but fell behind when Portuguese forward Lucas Joao found the back of the net midway through the first half.
The 24-year-old then made sure of the victory just after the break, bagging his second to ensure the Owls picked up only their second win over their counterparts from the East Midlands in twenty attempts.
Gary Rowett’s side now lie a point behind second-place Aston Villa, with Steve Bruce’s men now holding the advantage of a game in hand over their automatic promotion rivals.
Defender Curtis Davies took to Twitter to lament the result, with fans quick to have their say on the defender’s performance…
Well said, think we needed the shock of a defeat to kick us back into gear. Got plenty of time to look back at the last two games now and make sure we finish the season off pround. No matter what happens its been a great season and a pleasure to watch!! #bestdefenceintheleague pic.twitter.com/9Xb8haQkVQ

Massive game against Leeds Wednesday night. We can’t let that type of performance creep into games. At the business side of the season. I believe we can put another strong run together ???????????????? #keepthefaith

Well said,.however, don’t think a single Rams fan would argue you can’t win them all..but Sheff Wed, having not won since Boxing Day..sorry, no amount of excuses can allow that in the run in..lose against a top side, then yup, but sadly we have seen all this before, prove us wrong.

Trust me I’ve been asking it all season, you’ve just been beaten by an average Sheffield Wednesday reserves, and you played with 2 holding midfield players????????????????
