Birmingham City will be keen to finish this year's league campaign strongly, after a poor run before the EFL break saw them slide down the second tier standings.

The Midlands side are currently sat 16th in the Championship table, and will be hoping they can end a winless run of six matches when football returns next week.

Whoever takes over from Clotet, could be tempted to add to the squad utilising the free agency market, with funds likely to be limited across the board.

Here, we look at NINE soon-to-be free agents that Birmingham City could target...

Find out who they are, on the next page.....

Van La Parra has been without a club since early April, and is definitely a player that Birmingham City should be looking at in the near future.

He previously played for Huddersfield Town and was impressive for the Terriers in his time with the club. Most recently, he was with Serbian side Red Star Belgrade though, which says a lot about his ability when he's on form.

The vastly experienced Slovakian international has been without a club since he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Turkish side Konyaspor in late March.

Mak has a considerable amount of experience at a high level of football, and Birmingham would be foolish not to offer him a short-term deal whilst there is a break from competitive action.

Cheikh N'Doye is a player that Birmingham City fans will know all about.

He only left the club in the summer of 2019, but hasn't played competitive football since. He's got a good amount of experience under his belt, and could be worth having for his impact off-the-field as well as his contribution during matches.

Sakho will be a familiar name in English football after playing for West Ham United.

He was playing his football with French side Stade Rennais, before heading out on loan to Turkish side Bursaspor last season, before he left Stade Rennais.

Mikel hasn't been involved in football since he terminated his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor after recent off-the-field events took control of the globe.

He's previously played for Middlesbrough in the Championship, and would add some much-needed experience to the Blues team this season if he arrived.

The Brazilian was once one of the first names on the team-sheet at Premier League side Arsenal, but his career has somewhat stalled since.

His most recent spell in football was with Brazilian side Botafogo, and he could be worth looking at given his experience in English football.

The American forward has played for Sunderland and Everton earlier in his career, but hasn't featured in football for a few years now.

His last spell in the game as with Chinese side Beijing Enterprises, and at the age of 31, he surely still has something to offer.

Maiga has previously been on the books with both West Ham United and QPR earlier in his career.

His last spell in football was with Thai side Buriram United F.C, and you'd imagine that he'll feel as though he has a point to prove in English football.

Pinto has been without a club since his spell with Al-Fateh reached a conclusion in February.

The central defender has previously played for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, and could be a useful option for Birmingham from now until the end of the season.
