‘I don’t think it will take much’ – Nigel Pearson makes Stoke City claim

on

Stoke City are beginning to rival Millwall as the Sky Bet Championship’s draw specialists this season and it’s certainly a trait they’ll want to snap out of.

Whilst not getting beaten is a good thing, you need to win games in order to be real play-off contenders and Michael O’Neill’s side need to start doing more of that sooner rather than later as they fight for the top six.

With four draws in their last five matches, they now have 12 for the season but Nigel Pearson believes that the Potters aren’t far away from turning those stalemates into victories.

Speaking to EFL on Quest, he explained:

“It’s important to look at the bigger picture with Stoke, they’re a solid side, you know what you’re going to get, it is frustrating that there are so many draws, but I don’t think it will take much to convert draws to wins.”

The Verdict

Stoke fans will certainly hope that Pearson’s prediction is right.

They have a good side and have shown this season they are finally ready to fight up at the sharp end but they need to get on a run of wins to really break into the top six.

They’ll be pleased they’ve not lost many in recent weeks but it’s the three points you need to start making an impression on the top six and that will be O’Neill and his players’ task in the days and weeks to come, starting with a tough trip to Norwich on Saturday.

Were each of these 20 former Stoke City players left or right footed?
