A high-spirited Nigel Adkins took to Twitter this morning to provide a positive update and some friendly advice regarding his recovery from catching covid-19.

Adkins was forced to miss Charlton's 2-1 victory over Dartford at the weekend, along with some players and coaches within the first-team set-up.

The 56-year-old, who outlined that he is set to have a meeting with the squad via the Internet later on today, again used Twitter on Saturday to share a photo of him watching the Dartford friendly on the club's TV channel, as he continues his recovery from the virus.

Adkins will now follow government guidelines in regard to self-isolating and will continue working from home.

Charlton kick-off their League One campaign in 19 days, with the current situation seemingly halting their preparation, however, Adkins remained positive on Twitter, and said: "Obviously, not at the training ground, Johnnie Jackson, Jason Euwell and Danny Murphy, and the rest of the team have been working so hard together...so thankful that I'm associated with some real good people.

"Great result at the weekend against Dartford... A couple of great goals there from Josh Davison and Diallang Jaiyesimi"

"We have got a few players who are feeling a little bit under the weather as well, so trust you are all keeping well."

The verdict

It is nice to see Adkins with a smile on his face and recovering well from Covid-19. And, it is also good to see that he is able to operate from home and was able to watch the game too.

But, of course, it is not a great situation, and the fact that he is at home during a crucial stage of his squad's development is far from ideal.

Adkins does have a great coaching team around him however, and he will have full faith in them.

It may not be a great position to be in, but his health, and the health of others around him, is the ultimate priority.Â
