Quoted by Yorkshire Live, Sheffield Wednesday coach Nicky Weaver has made the blunt admission that very few players at the club can come out of their recent run of poor form with much credit.

The Owls have had a bit of an odd season but it looks set to end, whenever it does end, with little for them to really shout about.

A play-off place was on the cards earlier on in the campaign but some poor form in the last few weeks and heavy defeats has left them soul-searching and fans have certainly been unimpressed.

A man that knows all too well how important the club is to the supporters, too, Weaver has been suitably frank on just how the players should be feeling right now.

In particular, he was talking about Cameron Dawson's campaign so far and said, overall, the goalkeeper had had a decent campaign but, in the last few weeks, very few players can honestly say they've done themselves justice.

He said:

"I personally think he has had a decent season but, with the current run we have been on, no one comes out of it with loads of credit.

The Verdict

The players won't need telling, either. There is still some talent in this Owls squad but it's not come to the fore often enough and now they find themselves looking at a mid-table finish.

Some decisions may well need to be made on certain players' futures in the next transfer window and it remains to be seen who Garry Monk deems up for the fight - he's certainly been vocal in suggesting that he's ready to get ruthless at the club.
