Cardiff City have sealed their first addition of the transfer window by adding Bournemouth defender Brad Smith to their ranks on a loan deal until the end of the season, the club has confirmed.
Smith links up with the Bluebirds after spending the first half of the campaign on loan with MLS side Seattle Sounders, and he now arrives in South Wales to provide another left-back option for Neil Harris’ side during the remainder of the campaign.
The 25-year-old will compete with Cardiff stalwart Joe Bennett for a starting spot on the left side of defence, with the Bluebirds needing reinforcement in this department following the departure of Armand Traore earlier this month.
Smith has struggled to establish himself at Bournemouth since joining from Liverpool back in 2016, but he will now be aiming to prove himself in English football during this temporary stint at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff took to Twitter to share news of the signing on Thursday afternoon:

Plenty of Cardiff supporters responded to this addition by praising the club for finally getting a piece of business done this month, while others suggested Smith would be a good signing given they are in need of a new left-back.
