Norwich are closing in on their first signing of the summer, with Man City’s Patrick Roberts to join on a season-long loan upon completing a medical, reports John Percy.
Norwich fans have reacted positively to the news on Twitter, with some suggesting that it’s a move which could work for the long-term, with Roberts’ contract running out in summer 2020.
@ManCity winger Patrick Roberts is signing for Norwich on loan for the season. Medical all done, first signing since promotion secured. Man City impressed with Norwich after the success of Angus Gunn loan in 17/18 #ncfc

Since signing for Man City in 2015 the 22-year-old has only made one appearance for the Citizens, but had two successful spells at Celtic before his first taste of top-flight football at Girona this year.
Despite that, Norwich are taken a small gamble with his signing, given he has never played in the Premier League before, but since it is a loan it is a deal which should work out in Norwich’s favour, and they would be able to make him a permanent player should his current deal expire in 2020.
Here is some of the reaction from excited Norwich fans on Twitter…
A very smart transfer by the club – he seems unlikely to be going back to Man City at the end of the season, so if he does settle here and do well we could pick him up on a free at the end of the season.

He's got an assist against Ipswich under his belt, I like him!

Would like to think a future fee was put in place if we did like the look of him, seen him a few times at Celtic and looked a handful
