Of the six summer signings that Marcelo Bielsa made at Leeds United, it’s fair to say that Barry Douglas has been the only one to impact the first-team in the Championship.

Leeds have had Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown on the sidelines for long spells, whilst Jack Harrison has been in and out of the starting line-up. Jamal Blackman was forced to return to Chelsea after breaking his leg, whilst his Blues teammate Lewis Baker has had a non-existent impact at LS11.

Now, Football Insider are reporting that Baker will be recalled by Chelsea in the next 24 hours and sent elsewhere on loan after just two starts in the opening 26 fixtures of the Championship season.

Whilst the loss of Baker is not something that Leeds’ supporters will lose sleep over, they will be well aware that it deprives Marcelo Bielsa of another option and leaves his already thin squad, even thinner.

Fans must surely now expect some movement in the transfer window, with a creative midfielder needed at Elland Road.

Baker wasn’t hitting the heights expected, but he was a creative option, whilst Samu Saiz has also sealed a move to Getafe this month. Add to that, Brown is yet to make a senior appearance for Leeds.

There’s a lot of pressure on Pablo Hernandez to be the creative cog at Elland Road and Leeds can’t solely rely on him throughout the remaining 20 games of the season, Bielsa simply has to add another body to assist him.

Bielsa’s work with Leeds’ existing squad has been superb, but the transfer business done since he arrived leaves a lot to be desired. This latest update on Baker means the club need to move and start getting things right on that front. Arrivals are needed and should be on the horizon.
