Rotherham United are eyeing two Norwich City youngsters on loan ahead of their upcoming campaign in the Championship, according to Eastern Daily Press.

Norwich pair Sean Raggett and Ben Godfrey are loan targets for the Millers, who recently won promotion to the second tier via the League One play-offs, beating Shrewsbury Town in the final.

Young midfielder Godfrey was playing for Shrewsbury on that day at Wembley and now Rotherham are hoping to snap up the Shrews loan star.

The 20-year-old plays predominantly as a defensive midfielder but he can also operate at centre-half.

After playing 51 games at Shrewsbury and catching the eye with a number of influential displays, Godfrey could be given a chance to impress in Norwich's first-team, although Rotherham are hoping to capture him on loan for the season.

Rotherham are also hoping to sign Raggett on loan.

The 24-year-old signed for the Canaries from Lincoln City last summer and spent the first half of the season back on loan with the Imps.

Raggett has played just twice for Norwich with both games coming as very short cameos from the bench.

Daniel Farke sees Christoph Zimmermann, Timm Klose and Grant Hanley all ahead of the dominant 6ft 6in centre-half in the pecking order and Rotherham lead the likes of Peterborough United and a number of other League One clubs in pursuit of his loan services.

The Verdict

Rotherham would improve their current options with these two players and I can definitely see Raggett being allowed to complete a loan move.

The centre-half is still raw and lacks experience at this level so a year in the Championship with Rotherham would benefit him greatly.

Godfrey, on the other hand, is someone who could really make an impact at Carrow Road next season and I would keep him if I was Farke.
