Queens Park Rangers’ Ryan Manning has been the talk of a Premier League transfer in the past few weeks, and the rumours are hotting up after Newcastle United reportedly sent a scout to watch him at Elland Road last weekend according to Football Insider.

Mark Warburton’s side travelled to Yorkshire on Saturday to face Leeds United, who came out 2-0 victors over the Londoners, with goals from Tyler Roberts and Jack Harrison either side of half-time.

It wasn’t a terrible display from QPR, who were simply outclassed on the day. But news emerging from the game will worry fans, after it’s been reported that Steve Bruce had sent a scout to Elland Road that day to see over Manning’s performance.

A midfielder by trade, Warburton converted Manning into a wing-back for this season and the pair haven't looked back since.

The 23-year-old is out-of-contract in the summer though and having yet to agree a new deal with the club, is said to be available for the measly sum of £2 million.

The verdict

QPR have allowed their best players to go for next to nothing in recent seasons and Manning could well join that list, most likely in January.

He’d sure be a miss for QPR and would certainly be a scoop for Bruce - Warburton would need to find an immediate replacement for him in January, and hope that he’s half the player that Manning is.
