Newcastle could look to continue to rebuild their squad ready for the Championship season, by attempting to bring Ipswich forward David McGoldrick to the club, according to TWTD.
McGoldrick has struggled with injuries in recent years, but its nonetheless still regarded as one of the best strikers in the Championship, so Mick McCarthy will want to do everything he can to keep hold of one of his most important players.
However this may be easier said than done with Newcastle showing interest, as well as fellow Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Dutch club FC Twente.
Although Mick McCarthy has dismissed the idea that there are already bids on the table, the Tractor Boys may be braced for a battle as Newcastle continue to build a side that will ensure an immediate return to the top flight.
There is talk of the move initially being a loan deal worth around £1 million, with the potential of a permanent transfer should the player stay injury free.
Although Ayoze Perez, Aleksander Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle already pose a frightening strike force, Benitez may not be done there, and a move for McGoldrick would guarantee him that extra amount of Championship experience he has frequently spoken about.
