Newcastle United turn down £4.5 million bid for defender

Published

on

Newcastle United have rejected a £4.5 million from Crystal Palace for left-back Paul Dummett, according to the Chronicle.

Pardew is a big admirer of the Welshman and has failed in a bid to re-unite with the left back.

Dummett has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs this month, but Magpies boss, Rafael Benitez is looking to keep hold of the player to make sure they have plenty of options at full back.

The left-back has played in four out five games for the Magpies this season and would be happy to remain at St James Park, if he continues to play regularly for the Championship outfit.

He recently captained the Magpies in their 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town in the EFL cup, and expressed that it was his ‘proudest’ moment in his career.

It is unclear whether Crystal Palace will come back in with an improved offer for Dummett, but Alan Pardew will certainly have to increase the bid to prize the full back away from Newcastle United.
