Newcastle United still eyeing clinical Premier League forward

Published

Championship promotion hopefuls Newcastle United have not given up on landing Bournemouth star Callum Wilson, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

The club would need to smash their £17 million transfer record to land the Bournemouth start, who Eddie Howe values at £20 million.

The deal would also be a record for the Championship, which stands at £14 million.

The club have been tracking the 24-year-old since the summer window, despite already having considerable striking quality in their squad through the likes of Dwight Gayle, Aleksander Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez.

Interestingly, Wilson is represented by the same people as Matt Ritchie, who made the same swap from the Vitality Stadium to St James’ Park over the summer, despite being an establish top flight player. Could Wilson also be swayed the same way?

Wilson has previously been linked with big names like Tottenham Hotspur, as well as West Ham United.

His six goals in the Premier League this year have helped Bournemouth to an impressive ninth place so far this season.
