Speaking to NUFC TV, Matt Ritchie has insisted he will continue to give his all in a bid to help Newcastle United return to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

Rafa Benitez’s side are on the brink of promotion from the Sky Bet Championship, currently sat top of the table, with just six fixtures of the season remaining.

The Magpies hold a point lead over second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion, but are ten-points clear of Huddersfield Town who sit third, increasing the likelihood of automatic promotion.

Ritchie, who has impressed at St James’ Park this season, issued a warning to his teammates ahead of the final push for promotion, he said: “The job’s nowhere near done. I need to continue to give everything I can for the team.”

The Scottish international has been Newcastle’s hero in the past week, with match-winning strikes in the victories over Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion, which have helped the Magpies maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Benitez’s side face Sheffield Wednesday this week, where another three-points at Hillsborough will see Newcastle move closer to their target of promotion.
