Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been charged with misconduct, The FA’s official website has confirmed.
This is in relation to an incident in the Newcastle v Wolves match back in September, where Shelvey is alleged to have racially abused an opponent.
Shelvey could be on the receiving end of a five match ban, which would be a huge blow for Newcastle with him being a key figure for them so far this season.
The midfielder has until the 16th November to respond to the charge.
York City goalkeeper Scott Flinders was charged for the same offence and he was hit with a five match ban, so you would expect Shelvey to receive a similar ban, if found guilty.
This would be a huge blow for Newcastle, it would leave a huge hole in the middle of their midfield and they don’t have anyone else the quality of Shelvey to step in, which could be costly for The Magpies.
