Newcastle United and Huddersfield are rivalling Stoke City in the race to pursue the signature of Werder Bremen centre-half-come-left-back Luca Caldirola, according to German Sky Sports News reporter Marc Behrenbeck.
The 26-year-old Italian defender has attracted a host of clubs with his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, despite featuring in just five Bundesliga games this season following ligament and foot injuries.
Rafa Benitez’ Newcastle, who will be embarking on the Premier League next year, will definitely be looking to bolster their squad in preparation of surviving the tough environment of the top flight.
David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town are also said to be chasing the highly-rated, versatile defender, rivalling Premier League outfit Stoke City, who are said to be looking for a replacement for loanee Bruno Martins Indi.
German Sky Sports journalist, Marc Behrenbeck, claims that the trio of English clubs are leading the chase to sign the Italian, who has made a total of 44 appearances for Bremen.
