Newcastle United are looking to sign young Arsenal defender Isaac Hayden, who spent some of last season at promotion winning Hull, according to Shields Gazette.
Hayden is highly thought of at Arsenal enjoying a successful loan spell at Hull, and being a regular part of the England U20 set up.
The revolution has been in full swing at St James’ Park ever since Rafa Benitez confirmed that he would be staying on to manage Newcastle, despite their relegation to the Championship.
The 56-year-old Spaniard is resigned to the fact that they will lose some key players like Georgino Wijnaldum, but Benitez is also keen on getting rid of deadwood with Collocini and Taylor both leaving.
This makes a new centre back the priority for Benitez, with Janmaat keen to move on as well and Hayden is their prime target, with a permanent move favoured, but there will probably be an initial loan spell.
Hayden’s 24 appearances for Hull last season helped them win promotion to the Premier League, and the Gunners are keen on getting him more first team football in the Championship with Newcastle the front runners.
He can play at centre back or right back proving his versatility and would be a good first signing.
