Newcastle United are hoping to sign Andre Gray in a cut price deal, according to The Northern Echo.

As Burnley striker Andre Gray enters the final year of his contract at Turf Moor, Rafa Benitez is hoping to lure him to St James’ Park on the cheap.

Gray has just completed his first season in the Championship and ended with a respectable tally of nine Premier League goals to help fire Burnley to safety.

However, the 25-year-old has refused a new contract offer and could be set for the axe this summer with Newcastle United very keen.

Newcastle want at least one new striker this summer due to concerns over Dwight Gayle’s persistent injuries.

The Magpies are leading the chase for Gray and could land him for £12m with Tottenham and West Ham also keen.

In other Newcastle transfer news, Bournemouth striker Josh King is also a top striker target while Benitez is ready to trigger the €6m release clause CD Leganes midfielder Gabriel Pires’ contract.
