Newcastle United midfielder set to depart St James’ Park for European outfit

Florian Thauvin, the French winger who cost Newcastle a reported £15 million is set to be offloaded to previous club Marseille once more, on a season-long loan deal, according to French outlet La Provence.

The 23-year-old failed to have the desired impact at St James’ Park as part of a side struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table, and subsequently was loaned back to the French giants during the January transfer window.

A similar arrangement may very well be put in place again, as Benitez looks to construct a side capable of handling the physicality of the Championship.

Thauvin may be given another opportunity in the North East should the club return to the top flight, but for now it seems his short-term future lies in his native France.

Thauvin may be one of a number of high-profile Newcastle players who won’t be around when the Championship season get underway.

Benitez and his staff have a huge job in rebuilding the squad and instilling a winning mentality back into the football club, something that has been lacking for a number of seasons now.

Newcastle fans…What do you think? Should Thauvin be offloaded once more, or does he deserve another opportunity? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
