West Brom are expected to complete the loan signing of Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy, who will join the Baggies for the remainder of the season.

That's according to Football Insider, who claim that Darren Moore's side have seen off competition to put themselves in pole position for the 23-year-old.

Murphy made the move to Tyneside from Norwich in the summer of 2017 for around £10m but has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Rafa Benitez.

Whilst he has made nine Premier League appearances this season, the majority of those have come as a substitute. His only recent starts have came in the FA Cup, where he helped the side beat Blackburn.

Therefore, a move could suit all parties and it will be a massive boost for Albion who had been on the lookout for a new winger after Harvey Barnes departed.

Leicester decided to recall the England U21 international earlier this month after he had scored nine and made six goals for West Brom in a very productive spell.

Should the deal go through for Murphy, he would be in line to make his debut against Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns on 2 February.

The Verdict

This would be a fantastic bit of business for West Brom and Moore will be hoping that they can get this deal over the line.

Even though he hasn't gone on to make a big impact in the Premier League, he proved his ability in the second-tier at Carrow Road over the years.

Albion would be getting a quick, direct, exciting player - exactly what they needed after losing Barnes.
