Newcastle United loanee Freddie Woodman has dropped a potential hint about his future, revealing that he's "fallen in love with south west Wales" after spending the season on loan at Swansea City.

The 23-year-old arrived at the Liberty Stadium on a season-long loan in August and has been fantastic for the Swans this term, starting every single Championship game and keeping 11 clean sheetsthe fifth most in the division.

At this point, Woodman's long-term future remains unclear. The Englishman is out-of-contract at Newcastle in 2021 and Swansea boss Steve Cooper has already made it clear he'd love to sign him permanently.

Speaking to the Swansea website, the shot-stopper dropped a potential hint about his future by revealing that he has fallen in love with the area.

He said: "The people here made it very easy to settle. They’re so nice and I felt I needed to see everything around me because I want to understand what life as a Jack is all about."

Woodman added: "It’s a great place to live and work because there’s so much to do here. I’ve fallen in love with south west Wales."

The shot-stopper joined Newcastle from Crystal Palace as a youth player in 2013 and has progressed through the ranks at the North East club.

He has made six appearances in total for the Premier League side but has spent the majority of his career out on loan.

Woodman spent shorter spells at Crawley Town, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen but appears to have found an ideal fit at Swansea – making more appearances for them this term than all the of the other clubs he has joined on loan combined.

The Verdict

These comments from Woodman will likely be well-received by Swansea fans as it seems to hint that he could see himself staying in south west Wales longer than just one season.

That said, there are still a lot of things that would have to fall into place for him to come back to the Liberty Stadium next season.

With just one year left on his contract at Newcastle, you'd imagine he wouldn't be available for loan again and after his performances this yet, Swansea may face some competition for his signature.
