Sky Bet Championship side Newcastle United have made an enquiry about Fulham's midfielder Tom Cairney, according to Chronicle Live.

The former Hull City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder has been a revelation this season as he has been at the heart of Fulham's success.

The consistent performances of Cairney has been attracting attention from a number of clubs, and Championship promotion favourites Newcastle United have stated their interest.

Newcastle's interest has materialised in the North East club making an enquiry about Tom Cairney's availability, and Rafa Benitez and Lee Charnley have discussed the possibility of Tom Cairney moving to St James Park.

Although Slavisa Jokanovic and Fulham will be extremely reluctant to allow such an integral player leave as they mount a play-off bid, Newcastle United will be hoping that they can provide an offer that Fulham can find great difficulty refusing.

It is, however, highly unlikely that Jokanovic will allow Tom Cairney to leave unless they do receive a substantial bid and they identify a potential replacement.

Newcastle and Fulham fans, how do you feel about the news? Could you see this move happening in this transfer window? How much do you think that Cairney is worth? Would he be a necessary signing for Newcastle? How big of a loss would he be for Fulham? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
