Newcastle United are the latest club to be linked with a move for Salomon Rondon, The Daily Mail is reporting.
West Bromwich Albion face a battle to keep some of their star players at the club following their relegation to the Championship and Rondon is attracting plenty of interest.
West Brom boss Darren Moore is keen to keep Rondon but he has a £16m release clause, which has inevitably sparked the interest of some Premier League sides.
The Venezeula international has been targeted by Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United with Newcastle now entering the race.
Rafa Benitez is keen to bolster his striker options this summer, especially if he sells Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Rondon could be an option.
For the relegated Baggies, the 28-year-old scored seven Premier League goals and a further three in cup competitions.
West Brom are eyeing a couple of reinforcements in attack with Bristol City’s Bobby Reid (£7m) and Brentford’s Romaine Sawyers (£3m) to bolster their attack in case they lose Rondon and Jay Rodriguez.
Renowned for his strength and power, Rondon is an appealing centre-forward option for those who need a bit more physicality in the striker department.
Newcastle are unlikely to use him as their first option and he is not a 20-goal striker to get you up the league so £16m is a steep price for a back-up choice.
This could encourage West Brom, who will surely have one of their best attacks in the division if they can hold onto Rondon.
