Newcastle United have reportedly held fresh talks over the possible signing of West Brom striker Solomon Rondon, reports the Newcastle Chronicle

The fresh talks come in the wake of the Magpies being priced out of the chase for Nice striker Alessandro Plea with the club reportedly asking for £27million.

With Rafa Benitez still keen to bring in a new target man his attention has turned back to Rondon.

The Venezuelan signed for West Brom from Zenit St. Petersburg in 2015 and the Baggies will be keen to make a profit.

Since then the 28-year-old has bagged 24 goals in 108 Premier League matches and has been West Brom's main source of goals.

Darren Moore is known to be in the market for a goalscorer this summer and could be tempted to use the Rondon sale as a way of getting his targets.

Newcastle United are equally keen on bringing in some goals with Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Joselu only bringing in 18 between them.

The verdict

Selling Rondon may look like a poor move on paper, but in reality, it could be just what West Brom need to do.

If they are able to get £2omillion for him, then that will allow Darren Moore to vastly improve his entire squad and also get a top striker in.
