Premier League strugglers Newcastle United are eyeing up a January move for Nottingham Forest defender, Joe Worrall.

The Reds ace has been in fine form under Sabri Lamouchi since making a return to the club following a spell with Rangers last term, and now, according to the Sun, the Magpies are looking at making their move for Worrall.

Worrall's emergence as a key player under Lamouchi has seen him finally step into the potential he showed for the club as a teenager, and Forest fans have been delighted with what they have seen so far from their homegrown talent.

However, his form has attracted admiring glances from Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, who is keen on adding to his defence as he looks to plug the leaks in a defence which has shipped 13 goals already this term.

Forest have started the season in superb form and sit second in the Championship after yet another win at home yesterday. Worrall once again turned in a fine performance for the Reds as they made it 11 league games unbeaten, with their only loss this term coming against table-topping West Brom.

Worrall has made 13 appearances this term and looks like being one of the key men for Sabri Lamouchi if Forest are to continue to their excellent start to the campaign.

The Verdict

This makes sense given the start Worrall has made but it's hard to see him wanting to move to Newcastle United at the moment.

The Magpies are looking poor this season and relegation could well be on the cards again if they don't up their game.

With Forest in the ascendency and Worrall playing the best football of his career, it makes little sense for him to be making a move.
