Newcastle United eyeing deal for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder

Newcastle United are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s highly rated youngster, Alex Pritchard, according to The Sun via HITC Sport.

Over the past season, the England Under 21 international has had a disappointing season after suffering from both injuries and a lack of opportunities.

Pritchard only managed to make only two appearances for West Bromwich Albion during his loan spell.

This disappointment has been compounded by Tottenham Hotspur who have expressed their desire to offload the attacking midfielder, either permanently for a figure around the £8 million mark or out on loan once again.

As Rafa Benitez looks to strengthen his side, the nimble playmaker could be ideal for Newcastle United. Pritchard already has experience in the Championship which is essential for Newcastle to have success next season.

Pritchard’s performances last time he was in the Championship for Brentford were of the highest standard as he flourished and showed to be one of the brightest talents in the entirety of the Football League, as he helped the Bees reach the play-offs.

It would be a risk for Newcastle to take particularly if they purchased Alex Pritchard on a permanent basis due to his injury concerns, however, there is no doubt that he is talented and will develop greatly under the management of Rafa Benitez.

Newcastle fans, how do you feel about the news? Should Newcastle sign Alex Pritchard or is it too much of a risk? I s he the calibre of signing that you’d be hoping Newcastle made? Is there better out there for less, if so, who? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
