Newcastle United are the latest club to join the race for Ryan Fredericks, according to The Chronicle.

Fredericks is out of contract at Fulham this summer and will consider his options after helping to guide his team to promotion via the play-offs.

The Cottagers beat Aston Villa in the play-off final to ensure their place in next season's Premier League campaign and they will be desperate to keep their right-back.

Fredericks is also on the radar of Crystal Palace and West Ham United, but Newcastle could offer him a contract too.

The Magpies are keen to bring in someone to provide competition for places with DeAndre Yedlin next season, while Palace search for a replacement for Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Joel Ward and West Ham look for Pablo Zabaleta's long-term successor.

Fredericks is an attractive prospect for all three Premier League clubs after his strong displays both defensively and going forward earned him a spot in the EFL Championship Team of the Year.

Formerly of Tottenham Hotspur, the 25-year-old has admitted he is open to staying at Craven Cottage if Fulham can offer him a suitable deal.

But he will consider other options if they fail to match his demands.

The Verdict

Fredericks was one of the best defenders in the league last season and his pace and directness make him a useful option going forward.

He would be an asset for any of these three Premier League sides but I think he would prefer to stay in a settled environment at Craven Cottage.

The only thing that Newcastle and West Ham could offer that Fulham could not is much higher wages, which could turn the former England youth international's head.
