Chronicle Live journalist, Lee Ryder, has confirmed Newcastle United will be without a number of first-team regulars for this weekend’s clash with Cardiff City.
Rafa Benitez will be without Jesus Gamez, Grant Hanley and Jamaal Lascelles along with goalscoring midfielder Matt Ritchie, as the Magpies aim to overhaul Brighton and Hove Albion at the top of the Sky Bet Championship.

Both Lascelles and Ritchie featured in Monday’s 4-1 victory over Preston North End, which secured Newcastle’s automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Despite securing promotion with two fixtures of the season still remaining, Newcastle still have ambitions of winning the Championship title, but face a difficult task, with Brighton requiring just three-points to be crowned as Champions.
Benitez’s side are four-points behind the Seagulls and realistically need to pick up back-to-back victories over Cardiff and Barnsley in their remaining two fixtures, whilst hoping Brighton fail to pick up a win.
