Premier League side Newcastle United are still tracking Hull City captain Markus Henriksen ahead of a summer move, according to reports from Norwegian media outlet VG.

The 26-year-old has played an integral role in guiding the Tigers up the Sky Bet Championship table after a truly dismal start to the season, and has been a regular for Nigel Adkins' men this term.

The deep-lying playmaker has scored two goals and featured 27 times for Hull in all competitions this term, and his form for the Tigers has alerted interest from high-profile clubs of late.

The midfielder, who signed for Hull from AZ Alkmaar in 2017, was linked with a move to French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux as well as Premier League duo Leicester City and Newcastle in January.

Reports have now surfaced that the three clubs are continuing to track the Norwegian midfielder ahead of a potential summer move, with his contract expiring in the summer.

Hull currently sit 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table and seven points off the play-off places.

The Verdict

This could be a massive blow for Hull - Henriksen has been a solid figure in the middle of midfield this season, and has been a standout performer for the Tigers.

It would be a real shame for Hull if they lost him on a free transfer, as he could easily go for around £5million if he was under contract.

They will be praying that he signs a new deal at the KCOM Stadium, as he has been tremendous this season.
