Queens Park Rangers star man Charlie Austin has now emerged as a key target for Newcastle United, after it was announced that Papiss Cisse will be sidelined for around 2-3 months with an injury problem.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle boss Steve McClaren will now look to sign the QPR goal machine during the January transfer window, with the club ready to go in with a bid.
It is quite remarkable that Austin started the season with the R’s in the Sky Bet Championship, considering he smashed 18 Premier League goals last season, despite the Hoops’ relegation to the second tier.
Austin has missed some of the current campaign with a hamstring injury but is now fit and firing once again for the R’s.
QPR currently sit in 16th place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated 30 points from 25 league games – in what has been an underwhelming season for the club thus far.
The R’s have only won two out of there last ten league games, and will be hoping to beat Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Saturday.
