According to the Mirror, Newcastle United are interested in signing Derby County’s Tom Ince, and could even offer Grant Hanley as part of the deal, with the Rams keen on the Scottish defender.

Gary Rowett is believed to be willing to let Ince leave the Pride Park Stadium for the right price this summer, which will put a number of clubs on alert, given the 25-year old’s dazzling form in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

Ince scored 15 goals for Derby across all competitions, adding six assists to his tally over the course of the season.

Newcastle tried to sign Ince during the January transfer window, but their approach was knocked back by Derby, who were still in contention to reach the play-offs in early 2017.

However, Rowett is unlikely to block Ince from leaving Derby this summer, as he aims to put together a squad that is capable of bettering the Rams’ ninth placed finish from last year.

Hanley, who has been used sparingly at St James’ Park this season, is subject to interest from Derby and could be used by Newcastle as part of a deal to get Ince to move to the north-east.
