Newcastle United will surely be looking to make some late signings this summer with the deadline tomorrow evening.

It's been another frustrating window for the men from the north-east with Rafa Benitez clearly unhappy with the amount of players that they have actually managed to bring in.

Clearly, they are not spending as much as he'd have hoped and in the latest blow to their summer window it looks as though they won't be stretching to sign for Federico Fernandez.

The defender is currently at Swansea but the Magpies want him as they look to improve their defence ahead of the new campaign.

However, the Swans want £10m and, according to Lee Ryder, that means that the Tyneside outfit won't be forking out for the Spaniard - despite him being keen on a move:

It's another blow for the Magpies, then, with just tomorrow left for permanent deals.

The Verdict

Fernandez is a good defender and you'd think that he'd do well under the guidance of Benitez.

£10m doesn't seem like a massive amount of money, either, but we know who we're dealing with here and so the Magpies might just have to try and find other potential targets.
