Newcastle United are interested in signing Jarrod Bowen, report ChronicleLive.

Bowen has attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs this summer, with Southampton, Everton and Tottenham all linked with the forward at one point this summer.

The Magpies are just beginning their transfer activity this summer, and now Steve Bruce is in charge he will look to make additions which suit his team.

Bruce knows all about Bowen too, having signed and managed him at Hull, and he will look to add him to his squad if the fee is suitable for the club.

The 22-year-old was in terrific form last season, scoring 22 goals as he propelled Hull up the league - and it would be a big blow for Grant McCann and the team if they were to lose him.

However, with Newcastle closing in on the signing of striker Joelinton for £40m, they may not have much leftover to buy Bowen, particularly as The Tigers will play hardball.

The Verdict

Hull must keep hold of Bowen if they are to have any chance of success this season, and with not much time remaining in the window it would be dangerous to allow him to leave now.

They have so far remained firm and refused to sell, and the player appears happy to stay too so they aren't in any need to sell.

Newcastle however seem to be undergoing a change in transfer policy and Mike Ashley seems to be backing Steve Bruce. That means they could make Hull an offer they can't refuse and Bowen could end up leaving.
