We haven't heard an awful lot from Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah this season, which is strange considering the impact he had in the first-team last season.

He was fast-tracked to the United starting XI by former manager Louis van Gaal, who trusted the Dutch youngster on a whole manner of occasions to take the team forward, especially when he was under pressure.

But under current manager Jose Mourinho, it's been an entirely different story for Fosu-Mensah, who has seriously struggled for first-team minutes.

He's featured just seven times this campaign in the earlier stages of the Europa League and FA Cup and considering his progress last time out, it's been a bit of a comedown.

It's led plenty of United supporters to question whether he'll have a first-team future at the club under Jose Mourinho and if that doesn't turn out to be the case, there's certainly going to be interest in his signature going forward.

And one club that might be interested in a move for the versatile Dutch youngster is Newcastle United, who look set to return to the Premier League next season.

The Magpies have had a reasonably solid Championship campaign this time out and look set to be rewarded with a swift return to the top-flight as a result.

But going forward, it's important the Toon Army strengthen where needed and bringing in a player of Fosu-Mensah's quality and potential would be a great idea going forward.

We've seen some top quality youngsters come through the ranks at St James' Park over the past few years and there's little doubt it'd be a great place for the Dutchman to continue his development under one of the best coaches in the country.

According to Transfermarkt, he could be available for as little as £850k this summer and if he really isn't a player that is being considered by Mourinho, for the sake of his future, he might fancy a change of scenery.
