Newcastle midfielder set to complete permanent switch away from St James

Newcastle United midfielder Remy Cabella is set to complete a £6.3 million move to Ligue 1 side Marseille in the coming days, according to Football Insider.

Cabella joined Newcastle in 2014 after an impressive season in Ligue 1 with Montpellier, but struggled to force his way into the side, and found himself out of the starting eleven for long spells of the 2014/15 season.

He was sent out on loan to Marseille this season, and whilst his goal and assist return was modest, he clearly impressed the management team at the French club enough to take a punt on him.

The Magpies look set to make a £1.7 million loss on the 26 year old, but Rafa Benitez will be grateful to recoup just over £6 million of the £8 million that was paid for a player who scored just 1 goal in 31 appearances for the Tyneside club.

The French midfielder will hope to rebuild his reputation with Marseille, and we could be seeing him in the France squad in the future if he can replicate the form that earned him his move to Newcastle.

Newcastle fans, what do you think to this? Glad to see the back of Cabella? Let us know using the comments!!
