Moussa Sissoko has requested a move away from Newcastle United, according to Foot Mercato.
The French-International has been at St James’ Park for over three years and his time at the Magpies looks to be coming to an end.
Sissoko has told the media that he wants a move away from Newcastle because he feels that playing in the Championship will not enable him to continue his development as a player.
The news comes just weeks after the club got relegated from the Premier League and Sissoko is one of the many first-team players looking for an instant move back to the Premier League – Andros Townsend and Ayoze Perez amongst the rest.
The French midfielder has registered interest in playing in the Premier League next season as he feels he is ‘best suited’ to the England’s top division.
Sissoko went on to tell Foot Mercado that he is not ‘closing any doors’ but a move to a Champions League team in the Premier League would be his ideal preference.
Furthermore, when asked about reported interest from Arsenal, the midfielder explained that it was ‘flattering’ to be linked with a move to the Gunners but, at this moment in time, his focus very much lies with the French national team.
Whilst Sissoko prepares for the European Championship’s with France, he will certainly be hoping that he can prove his worth on the big stage to attract further interest from clubs that can provide him with Champions League football next season.
As for Newcastle, they will have to try their upmost to keep Sissoko at the club for next season’s push for promotion back to the Premier League. However, that looks to be a monumental task for the Magpies and spending the money they get from Sissoko wisely could prove vital for next season.
