According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle United could be set to change Adam Armstrong's stay at Bolton Wanderers and move him elsewhere.

The young forward hasn't managed to force his way into the Magpies' first team so far in his career but has done well in loan spells in the Championship.

However, despite being a regular presence in Bolton's side this season, there is a suggestion that he could move to another side in the EFL as Newcastle want him playing as a number 9.

So far this year for the Trotters, Armstrong has been played out wide and though he has regularly worked hard and played well, that is not his favoured position.

Indeed, Newcastle are going to be eager to see that a side can come in and play him as a central striker regularly in January as that is the only way he'll progress into a good striker.

Who comes in for Armstrong, meanwhile, remains to be seen but League One side Blackburn Rovers have been mentioned as a potential destination.

Bolton, meanwhile, might feel they can still keep Armstrong if they offer to play him more centrally.

Let's see what happens.

The Verdict

Newcastle will be the side that calls the shots here and Bolton will hope it still favours them.

If they offer to play him centrally they might just get to keep him for the rest of the campaign.
