Cedwyn Scott has joined Newcastle United on trial for a month as the striker looks to secure a big opportunity for himself, with him also linked with Sunderland who have scouted the player.

The forward has scored 21 goals in 16 games for non-league side Hebburn FC and that form has seen him catch the eye of north-east pair Newcastle and Sunderland.

Indeed, Roker Report recently revealed that the Black Cats were taking a look at the striker but it is their north-east rivals Newcastle that have made the first move, with him embarking on a trial with their u23 side whilst he can still play for Hebburn.

The 21-year-old's temporary link-up was confirmed on Hebburn's official website and now all eyes will be on him to see how he does in the next few weeks.

Sunderland, of course, will be watching the situation carefully too.

The Verdict

It's always of interest when a player from non-league football gets their chance at one of the big names and Scott now has that opportunity with Newcastle.

Sunderland will naturally be monitoring things with them evidently interested in him too and time will only tell just whether he is going to secure a deal with the Magpies or not.
