Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has voiced his support for Luton Town striker Elliot Lee in his attempt to win the PFA Fans Player of the Month for November.

Lee is the Hatters' top scorer so far this season with 10 goals, helping the newly promoted side to rise to an impressive third place after 20 games.

Taking to Twitter, the all-time Premier League record goalscorer wrote: "You have my vote @ElliotLee9."

The 23-year-old netter five times in November to help Nathan Jones's side to win three of their four games and go the entire month unbeaten.

The run included back-to-back braces in the 3-1 victory against Gillingham at Priestfield and the 4-0 thrashing of Bradford City at Kenilworth Road.

Only Sunderland, by two points, and Portsmouth, by six points, sit above Luton in League One but they are only above fourth-placed Peterborough United on goal difference.

Lee moved to Kenilworth Road permanently in the summer of 2017 from Barnsley and has scored 25 goals in 67 appearances (including an earlier loan spell).

Fleetwood Town are the visitors for Luton next weekend as they look to break into the automatic promotion places.

The verdict

You have to agree with Shearer here.

There have been plenty of good performances in League Two over the last month but Lee surely stands above the rest.

Five goals in a month is a tremendous effort and one that should be rewarded.
