Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a move for Swansea City's want-away star Andre Ayew, according to reports from the Chronicle Live (15/07, 14.22)

Ayew has also been tracked by Turkish giants Besiktas, and is seemingly on his way out of the Liberty Stadium after the Swans' relegation in May.

The reports states that the move would underwhelming, but not so long ago the Ghanaian was worth £20m of West Ham's money.

His impact since returning to Swansea has been limited, making just 12 top flight outings before they dropped out of the Premier League.

He cost Graham Potter's side £18m in January, a late roll of the dice to retain their top flight status the ultimately failed.

Ayew came to England from Marseille, joining Swansea on a free transfer in 2015. His 12 goals in 35 appearances impressed then-West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.

Ayew has represented Ghana 74 times, scoring 14 goals and is the son of Abedi Pele, one of the greatest African footballers of all time.

The Verdict

Ayew would be a great singing for Newcastle, despite the report stating it to be underwhelming.

It would be even better if Swansea could convince him to remain at the Liberty Stadium for a season, as he would surely guarantee goals against lesser opposition.
