According to Football Insider, Newcastle and Everton are locked in a battle to try and sign Bristol City's Joe Bryan in the January window.

The left-back has been flying this season for the Robins with his team-mates certainly following suit and looking as though they are going to challenge for the Premier League.

Bryan could be fast-tracked to the top flight, though, with the two Premier League sides apparently tussling to try and sign him when the window opens in just over a week from now.

Of course, the Robins are going to want to try and keep a hold of him this season at the very least as they aim to keep their play-off hopes up.

The club has outperformed any expectations of it so far with the likes of Aden Flint and Bobby Reid also catching the eye for them so far this season.

Losing Bryan in January might just put that seed of doubt in the other players' minds about whether the club is serious about their promotion push, too, and so they need to ensure they don't lose Bryan.

Sometimes, though, the money that might be offered is too good to turn down.

The Verdict

This was always going to happen with Bristol City and some of their top players this season.

They have really excelled and if they don't get into the Premier League this year a fair amount of their players could be off.
