West Brom forward, Salomon Rondon has emerged as a potential transfer target for Rafa Benitez's Dalian Yifang according to the Daily Mail.

The pair have previously worked together last season at Newcastle, where Rondon scored 12 goals for the Magpies as they finished 13th in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old is unlikely to remain a West Brom player heading into the new season though, as his wages are to expensive for the Baggies in the Championship.

So a permanent move away from The Hawthorns looks as though it will be announced in the near future, with the new season getting underway in August.

Newcastle will have been keen to land Rondon's signature, but they could be dealt a blow in that pursuit, as Dalian Yifang will be able to offer more than Benitez's former club.

Benitez wasted no time in finding his next job in management, as he signed a deal worth £12m a year to join the Chinese club after his contract with Newcastle came to an end in the summer.

His first signing in charge of the club could be Rondon, although it remains to be seen as to whether an official bid has been launched by Benitez's side.

The Verdict:

I'd be stunned if he was a West Brom player when the new Championship season gets underway in August.

Rondon has been the subject of speculation linking with a move away from the Baggies for a number of months now, and Bilic will be hoping to have his future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

He's far too good for the Championship, and he could be tempted by a move to Benitez's new side who certainly won't be short of funds.
