Newcastle United had scouts in attendance to watch Jarrod Bowen as Hull fell to a 2-0 defeat to Amiens at the KCOM Stadium.

The winger has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League over the past two years, scoring 36 goals in that period with 22 of them in the previous campaign.

Capable of playing down either flank and with good pace and technique, it seems a matter of time before he makes the step up to the top-flight.

And, the Magpies could be the club to give him that platform, with the Newcastle Chronicle claiming that the club were checking out two players during the game, one of which was Bowen.

It had been reported earlier in the week that Newcastle were looking to sign the winger and that they would have to pay a fee in excess of £10m to land the player.

Should a deal go through, it would be the second time that Steve Bruce has signed Bowen after he brought him to Hull from Hereford, although he didn't feature under the experienced boss before he left.

The Verdict

This is a transfer that you can see happening as Newcastle need a winger and Bruce is obviously a fan.

As well as that, even though Hull fans won't want to hear it, Bowen is ready to make the step up and he should do this for his own career.

He has posted very good numbers over the past two years and must feel as though he warrants a chance in the top-flight.

So, now it's down to Newcastle to agree a fee if they really want him and the Tigers should hold out for good money. The £10m suggested seems quite cheap for someone of his talent.
