Newcastle complete stunning move for tricky Premier League star

Championship side Newcastle United have completed a stunning move for Bournemouth star Matt Ritchie, the club have confirmed.

The 26-year-old joined the Magpies on a 5-year-contract in a £12 million deal from the Cherries, a considerably shocking move given that Ritchie would undoubtedly be in the starting eleven for the Premier League side next season.

He was an absolute star the last time he was in the second tier, and nominated for the Championship player of the season but lost out to Patrick Bamford, scoring 15 goals and making 17 assists throughout the campaign.

He comes in to replace outgoing England international Andros Townsend, who joined Crystal Palace today for around £13 million.

Ritchie really is a stunning capture for the Magpies and a testament to how Rafa Benitez’s reputation can be such a pull factor for the Magpies.

It seems Newcastle are slowly building an absolutely fabulous squad that could obliterate the Championship, and as the rebuild continues, their future looks ever brighter.

Newcastle fans… What do you make of this deal? Is Ritchie a good signing? Will he fit into your side? Let us know in the comments below.
