It has emerged from an exclusive report by the Chronicle that Newcastle United and Norwich City are set to compete for Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle.
It is looking increasingly likely that Dwight Gayle will leave Crystal Palace this summer with a number of Championship sides expressing an interest in the 26-year-old.
However, the £10 million price tag that Crystal Palace has associated with Gayle will price out most of the Championship sides leaving only clubs at the higher echelons financially and the recently relegated who have parachute payments providing financial support.
Both Newcastle United and Norwich City looked short of goals last season and both sides that dropped down from the Premier League to the Championship will be hoping to bolster their attacking ranks with a proven goalscorer.
Dwight Gayle could be ideal for either Newcastle United or Norwich City, the main question is, will either side be willing to pay the £10 million that Crystal Palace is holding out for?
