Leeds United have reportedly now submitted all their evidence to the FA for the disciplinary case concerning goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

The Spaniard was charged with using racially abusive language toward Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko at the start of November.

The incident is alleged to have occurred during the Addicks 1-0 win against Leeds back in September.

Casilla "strenuously denies the allegation" and now awaits his personal hearing, which will determine his punishment.

The 33-year-old has been granted extra time to respond to the FA charge, with the deadline now set on the 27th of November.

According to Football Insider, Leeds have now submitted all their evidence to the FA concerning the case.

If Casilla is found guilty he will likely face a six-match suspension, which may be extended if there are aggravating factors.

It is understood that the Yorkshire club are hopeful that the Spaniard will not receive a long suspension.

The goalkeeper has been a key player for the Whites this season–starting every Championship game and helping them to concede the fewest goals and keep the most clean sheets in the division.

If Casilla is banned, it looks likely that 19-year-old loanee Illan Meslier will be Marcelo Bielsa's first choice.

The Verdict

There is absolutely no place for racism in football and if he is found guilty, then Casilla needs to serve the appropriate punishment.

His potential suspension is hanging over Leeds a bit at the moment, but this latest update suggests that the case is progressing.

That is good news for fans of the Yorkshire club because it indicates they're closer to a resolution–whatever that may be.
