VfL Wolfsburg manager Bruno Labbadia is a candidate to become the new manager of West Brom, according to SportBild (via Sport Witness)

Albion have been searching for a permanent manager since head coach Darren Moore was unexpectedly sacked over two months ago, with the club nine points outside the automatic promotion places in the Championship.

James Shan took caretaker charge of the club until the end of the season and was able to cement the team's position in the play-off places, winning six of the final ten league matches.

The Baggies would ultimately miss out on promotion though, losing on penalties to rivals Aston Villa in their play-off semi-final after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.

The German website SportBild (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Labbadia has emerged as a potential candidate for the role, following his success with Wolfsburg.

The 53-year-old took charge of the club in January 2018 and was able to guide the club to a sixth-placed finish in the Bundesliga this season, securing their qualification for the Europa League.

The report states that Labbadia is out of contract at Wolfsbury at the end of the season and is keen to talk to West Brom about the possibility of him taking charge at the Hawthorns.

The Verdict:

This could potentially be a good appointment for West Brom, although Labbadia has no experience of managing in England, so his appointment would have to be considered somewhat of a risk.

Perhaps the Baggies will decide to go for somebody who has already experienced winning promotion from the Championship.
