New Sunderland signing Marc Wilson has spoken of his happiness and delight at completing a move to the Stadium of Light, calling it the 'right move'.

In an interview for the club's official website, Wilson has detailed why he felt this was the ideal move for him at this point in his career, and what he hopes to achieve going forward with his new club under Simon Grayon's management.

Wilson's experience in the Premier League with the likes of Stoke City and West Brom could prove invaluable for the North East club as they look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking under their new manager.

The versatile defender also made note of how he wanted to get his career back on track, while also noting the size of the club was a big factor in convincing him and his family that this was the right move at the right time.

Wilson has 25 caps for Ireland and will be hoping to make an immediate impression on Wearside. The club have started the season in an inconsistent manner, and manager Grayson will be looking to his new signings and experienced campaigners like Wilson to get things back on track for him.
